Career Opportunities

Interior designers have the task of designing interior spaces that are visually and pleasing while considering privacy, acoustics, and efficiency. You can choose to study specialized interior design for residences, corporate buildings, institutional buildings, public spaces, private spaces, organizational needs, historical buildings, cinematic and television sets, vacation resorts and hotels ... the list is endless.

As an interior designer, you'll work closely with architects, engineers, and builders to determine interior spaces' function and form. With our department's focus on commercial interior design, you'll be prepared to work with both large buildings and segmented spaces within them.

To be a licensed interior designer in Louisiana, there are three requirements: education, experience, and examination. You must graduate from an accredited program — we are accredited by CIDA and NASAD — have experience working in the interior design field, and pass the NCIDQ examination.

For more information on starting your career in interior design, visit the CIDA website.
