Scholarships

Scholarship opportunities are available for all UL Lafayette students through the Office of Scholarships. The University also offers financial aid programs for entering and current students.

Additionally, several scholarships are available specifically for School of Architecture and Design students; those scholarship opportunities are outlined below.

The School of Architecture and Design offers scholarships for academic and design achievement at all program levels. We also have several travel scholarships available to students to facilitate UL Lafayette Study Abroad programs and other travel opportunities.

How to Apply for School of Architecture and Design Scholarships

To apply for scholarships within the School of Architecture and Design, please complete the online School of Architecture and Design Scholarship Application. Please review your eligibility for each scholarship. Scholarship amounts are approximate and vary from year to year.

The last day to apply for all School of Architecture and Design scholarships is Sunday, April 7, 2024. A separate application is not required for each scholarship.

Please note that the award amounts for each of these scholarships may vary slightly due to fluctuations in the financial performance of the individual endowments. As the UL Lafayette Division of Advancement continues to work with the Dean to increase scholarship funding, additional scholarships may be available. Academic Scholarships

Undergraduate Scholarships

The Clay R. Breaux Endowed Scholarship:

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Louisiana Resident
  • Graduate of Carencro High School
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Majoring in Architecture, Interior Design, or Industrial Design

Meleton Endowed Scholarship in Architecture and Design:

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled and eligible to enter their 4th year of study pursuing an undergraduate program in the School of Architecture and Design
  • 3.2 Cumulative GPA
  • Additional consideration is given to a student who is/was involved in a volunteer building project.

Jim Firmin Endowed Scholarship for Architecture:

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student and classified as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in the School of Architecture and Design
  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Preference is given to a student who has demonstrated a strong work ethic and commitment to service to the School and their community

Architectural Studies Scholarships

David L. Perkins FAIA Scholarship in Architecture:

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student and classified as a Junior or Senior
  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Preference is given to a student who has demonstrated aptitude in ARCH 302 for Design Synthesis and Building Integration

Industrial Design Scholarships

The Abdalla Family Endowed Scholarship:

Eligibility:

  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • 3.0 GPA in Major Courses
  • Majoring in Industrial Design

The Jim Marks Memorial Endowed Scholarship:

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Majoring in Industrial Design

Interior Design Scholarships

Michael and Jovette Mosing/BORSF First Generation Scholarship in Interior Design:

Eligibility:

  • Must be a U.S. and Louisiana resident who is a “first-generation college student.”
  • Must have been awarded the federal Pell Grant
  • Must be majoring in Interior Design
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Graduate Scholarships

AIA South Louisiana Endowed Scholarship - Academic:

Eligibility:

  • Entering Graduate School at UL Lafayette (Architecture)
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA

The PDR Endowed Graduate Scholarship in Architecture:

…to support the exploration of design thinking…

Eligibility:

  • Must have been admitted to the Graduate School at UL Lafayette (Architecture)
  • 3.0 GPA
  • In Good Academic Standing

The C. Gayle Zembower Endowed Architectural Scholarship:

Eligibility:

  • Louisiana Resident
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Must have an undergraduate degree in Architecture
  • Must have been admitted to the Graduate School at UL Lafayette (Architecture)

Travel Scholarships

Fluidity Travel Prize:

The Fluidity Travel Prize is a travel fellowship to New York City for 3–7 days to experience great American architecture. For more details, see pdf.

Eligibility:

  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA, 3.0 Major GPA
  • Eligible to enter Junior or Senior year
  • Majoring in Architecture
  • Full Portfolio Submission
  • After Trip:
    • Presentation to Class or School
    • Send Thank You/Trip Report to Donor

For Summer Travel (when UL Lafayette Study Abroad programs are available) or for tuition-related expenses.

Eligibility:

  • Eligible to enter Junior or Senior Year
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA

The Collins C. Diboll Endowed Scholarship:

For Summer Travel (when UL Lafayette Study Abroad programs are available) or for tuition-related expenses.

Eligibility:

  • Eligible to enter Junior Year
  • 3.0 GPA in Major Courses
  • Majoring in Architecture, Interior Design, or Industrial Design

The Herbert Heymann Endowed Scholarship:

For Summer Travel (when UL Lafayette Study Abroad programs are available) or for tuition-related expenses.
