Eugenie Provost and Jacob Odom, Master of Architecture Students, took first place in the Professional/Social Science Poster Competition at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette 2017 Graduate Student Research Showcase for their project “Hattiesburg Community Arts Center”.

The project is in partnership with the Hattiesburg Art’s Council and is an adaptive reuse redevelopment of the Old Hattiesburg America Newspaper building into the Hattiesburg Community Arts Center that will house many different programs such as an after school program for children 6-13 as well as place for a gallery, a theater, and working space or local artists of many different disciplines.

There were a record 86 entries, in three research topic categories, from graduate students across campus for the Research Showcase, which anchored the annual Graduate Student Appreciation Week activities.
