We are proud to congratulate Industrial Design senior Sam Reihl, who has been awarded Outstanding Graduate for the College of the Arts!

Sam has just recently completed Phase 1 of the Red Bull sponsored project: Project Pilot Run. In this project, he is designing a travel bag that can hold a BMX bike for a professional Flatland BMX rider, Terry Adams. The final design will then be initially produced by Tchoup Industries in NOLA. Tchoup's owner, Patti Dunn, is on his senior capstone committee and has been working on the project with Sam and the rest of the third year Industrial Design students. Phase 1 of the project has culminated in 4 students being hired for a summer internship through UL and Red Bull, of which Sam is one, where they will travel to Tchoup in NOLA and create a fully functional final product that will be used by Terry as well as potentially serve as the Red Bull BMX Team Bike Bag.

Sam just recently completed the Red Bull "Can you make it?!" Challenge where contestants traveled across Europe with only Red Bull as currency. The contest has roughly 200 teams from 60 countries. Sam's team finished 15th in the world and 1st in the United States.

Back in November, Sam accepted a job with Focal Point, a Chicago based Lighting company, and upon graduation will be moving up north. He will begin his job in August.

The School of Architecture and Design congratulates him on his excellent academic career and wishes him luck in his bright future as a design professional. Congratulations to Sam and to all of our outstanding graduates from the UL School of Architecture and Design this Spring!
