Adam Feld Awarded Tenure, Promoted to Associate Professor of Industrial Design

The School of Architecture and design would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Adam Feld, who was recently awarded tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Industrial Design.

The tenure and promotion process involves a rigorous evaluation of teaching, research and scholarship, and citizenship and service leadership. Feld is an excellent teacher who advances professionalism and critical self-awareness in the learning environment, and excels in student mentorship. Feld was recognized as an Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor, and acknowledged for building the Project Pilot Run with RedBull USA project that creates funded undergraduate research opportunities. Since he was first appointed, Feld has developed and incorporated program-specific visualization and digital modeling excellence into the Industrial Design curriculum, elevating the program's credibility nationally. 

Feld has published in numerous refereed conference proceedings including industrial design education’s primary forum for research, scholarship, and creative activities – the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), as well as other reputable and relevant pedagogical conferences. In the role of Co-Principal Investigator, he has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to seeking funding for program and College-level equipment acquisitions to enhance facilities and pedagogy. Feld is widely-recognized for his exemplary record of collaborative practice that grows expertise and authority in design. He consistently engages across disciplines with respect and integrity.

Feld’s most substantial service contribution to the School is as the Faculty Advisory to the UL Industrial Design Society of America's Student Chapter. As a continuation of this work, Feld’s commitment to professional-level service leadership is exemplified in his position as Vice Chair to the Professional Organization IDSA and as a reviewer and judge to IDSA conferences. Feld exemplifies extraordinary college-level service with the acquisition, training, and maintenance of the Digital Fabrication Laboratory equipment.
