Thomas Mouton, AIA, is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Architecture & Design at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is also a practicing architect at Architects Design Studio in New Iberia, Louisiana.

Mouton's professional experience in the Gulf South region provides him with a deep understanding of regional building practices and the latest technologies, including Building Information Modeling (BIM). His prior career as a furniture and cabinetmaker has instilled in him a strong appreciation for craft and the materiality of design.

Mouton's research interests lie at the intersection of design, craft, and regional context. He is particularly interested in exploring the potential of Design-Build delivery methods to foster a deeper connection between design intent and realized built form. Additionally, he investigates the diverse and evolving patterns of spatial inhabitation in Southern Louisiana, drawing upon a pluralistic approach that considers cultural, historical, and environmental factors. By combining his academic and professional roles, Mouton is committed to educating the next generation of architects and fostering innovative design solutions that are relevant to the local culture.
